My husband and I have a family shop called, "Chirp on the Mountain," which we are excited to announce will be opening at the 36th annual Mountain Glory Festival in Marion, N.C. on October 12th, 2019! To check out the festival website for event details, click HERE.
We will be selling our art, of course, art prints and hand painted upcycled records, just to name a few, as well as our other handmade wears like crochet headbands and resin jewelry and mobiles that will glisten in the sun! We will have graphic T-shirts screen printed by us and I'm most excited to announce J.C.'s amazing puppets! We hope you can join us for a great day in our home town! We will be enjoying the fresh autumn air and jamming in between customers, rain or shine! :)

A lot of people don't know the truth about Lyme Disease and its origins. It is rampant in the east and something like 80 percent of New York residents have it. I have been battling Lyme for a few years now and it's no joke if you don't choose to completely change your diet and life to stay healthy and ward off flare-ups. There have been times I thought I was going to die. I am honestly surprised to have lived in New Jersey most of my life and not contract the disease until I was 26, most of my friends around me were already dealing with it or have dealt with it at a young age. Anyway, Truthstream Media are a the best researchers I've ever come across in this age of internet information. CLICK THE TRUTHSTREAM LOGO BELOW and watch their video on Lyme and maybe learn something you didn't know! The creation of Lyme is a root that runs deep from a much larger tree. Project Paperclip, anyone? We are slaves without our real history, so learn it while it is still available!
-DARLING MICA-
Your voice floats atop rolling waves, your wisdom is beyond experience. The sound of wind chimes in March, or the sound of a gentle breeze through the tall grass. God is with you, child, only He could make such music, only He could write such lyrics. All that you say is true, My Love all that you know is right - All that guides you is pure, My Dear, my teacher beyond years. -Nitsa There's this great artsy smoke shop in Brunswick, Ohio called Nhalables... they have been displaying one of my galleries of about 25 paintings for the past two or so years now and just yesterday, I got my gallery delivered to me here in NC! I would like to start by saying thank you Nhalables for giving my art beautiful walls to live on in your lovely store. I have gotten so much good feedback from people who have come in and admired my art among the glass and other cool stuff for sale there, I even sold a few pieces there. If you're ever in the Greater Cleveland Area, give them a visit. They are some of the friendliest and most professional people I've ever worked with and I look forward to doing business with them in the future! Click the Nhalables logo to go to their site, they have a very unique selection! What's next for my gallery, you ask? Well, that's a surprise! I do have plans for it in the Greater Asheville Area and I'll be announcing exactly where it's going very soon! In the meantime, here's a completely unrelated picture the Cricket Creek Gypsies (Me, JC, Jude and PJ) busking in Sedona, AZ around this time last year. Good times but man were we dusty! Have a great Sunday, folks!
The photograph Mica is holding was created by Vickie Burick, it's called "Holding the Sun." I found it displayed at Allgood Coffee in Weaverville, NC today while my husband played washtub with Stevie Lee Combs. Now it is ours to look at forever and I'm very excited about that. Thanks, Vickie! Visit her portfolio here; http://vickieburick.zenfolio.com Also if you're ever in Weaverville, Allgood is the best cup in town! Good coffee, music and local art, that's what makes a proper community.
Below is a picture I took today of JC and Stevie playing at Allgood, they sounded great! Hope everyone is having a warm and hopeful Equinox! Did you know that according to the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), there are currently about 4,987 satellites orbiting Earth? Only about 1,100 of them actually work, the rest are space junk. Old satellites are not removed and so as time goes on, the dead satellites collide and break apart into smaller pieces and much of the space trash is now interfering with the ISS and other functional satellites. About once a week, a piece of dead satellite debris will fall and burn up in the atmosphere.
In 2018, 453 recorded objects were launched into orbit, which accounts for almost 5% of the junk already up there, which means each year, the amount of satellites put up increases exponentially. Governments and private companies put up satellites all the time, including; Sierra Nevada, Audi, Tesla, Virgin Galactic, just to name a few. There is an organization called UCS, the Union of Concerned Scientists, who keep tabs and statistics on functional and non-functional satellites in orbit. I'm not saying there's anything we can really do about rocket scientist litter but it's something to at least be aware of. So if you don't know how to spot a satellite in the night sky, they look like slow and steady moving stars. If it's blinking, it's probably a plane. Satellites are only noticeable if you take the time to stop and look for a minute but you'll find them every time, there are so many! Do you love old time music, folklore, busking and other janky stuff? Check out my husband's website, we just polished it up. I put a button below this photo that will take you there. This is a photo I took of JC playing with our good friends Them Frisky Critters in Saratoga Springs, NY last year. Love these guys and wanted an excuse to put them on my page. Check out JC's vast variety of musical projects and talented company, as well as check out his upcoming events. Thanks y'all, have a great day :)
I don't always get a chance to break out the acrylics but this little 5x8 watercolor journal has helped me blow off artistic steam each day. These are just a couple of the little 20 minute watercolor sketches I've done over the last month.. In the last image, my daughter Mica painted the background and I added her to it.
Hello friends!
After many years of using this website only as a gallery, I am now prepared to open up conversations on all kinds of topics. Art is obviously a passion of mine. I have studied art all my life but I have also studied language, mythology, psychology and nutrition all my adult life. I'm a jack of all trades and master of none. I am a God fearing individual. I hate politics and think most of what we see on the news is a huge performance. I don't watch cable T.V. or use social media or have my own cell phone. I love my country, I hate doctors and vaccines and prescription medicine, I'm a gluten free vegetarian, I love being a mom and. I'm also not as narcissistic as I just made myself sound. My point is, I guess, that I have a lot to say and I'm going to say it right here because this is my little slice of internet. I hope some people listen and feel entertained or inspired or disgusted or whatever. I have kept a journal all my life and still do to this day. It has come in handy many times in recalling memories that would have otherwise been forgotten. I am a transcriptionist by trade, so I appreciate the art of preserving records. My husband is obsessed with old time music and he has taught me everything I know about being a street performer. I was dabbling in music when I met him and then became a full-time busking act on the road with him shortly after we met. We traveled for three years in various vehicles, ending our journey with our lovely short bus whose name is Miles. He is now primarily used as a recording studio. I guess the last important detail about me is that I have been battling Lyme Disease for about a year now and that has been a really interesting and eye-opening struggle that I would like to talk about in some more detail at some appropriate time in the future. I hope to attract some followers to my blog. I've been a writer all my life and now I feel ready to go public with my ideas. Thanks in advance for listening and thanks for being lovers of the arts. I'll leave you with this cool picture of me and my one year old at our camp on top of a huge gorge above the Rio Grande in Taos, NM last year. -Nitsa |
